This past weekend local football fans were treated to a range of great games in new surroundings as many of you decided to take in non-league football as Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday paused for the international break.
Amongst the games taking place was a superb clash between Maltby main and Penistone Church. A late penalty in the dying moments of the game looked to have sealed The Miners' fate as Penistone took a 2-1 lead into the final minutes. The action; however, was not finished as Main mounted a successful late comeback to take a vital point in their quest to stay in the NCEL Premier Division. A relatively successful day on the pitch married up with more success off it as Maltby saw 215 through the gates at Muglet Lane. An almost 70% increase on last seasons average attendance.
